Safeguarding & Internet Safety Resources for Parents / Carers / Staff & Governors
There are many ways to engage Parents / Carers and the wider school community in working with children to keep them safe. Below are a few web links that my help (just click on the title to go straight to the web site resource):
1. Parent info
This website from CEOP and parent zone is updated regularly with blog posts, research and articles. Schools can sign up to have a news feed on their site. The feed can be tailored to both the age of the children in the school and the topics that are the most relevant.
2. Vodafone Digital Parenting magazine
Vodafone have now produced four issues of their fantastic magazine. It covers a range of articles that relate to mobile phone, e mail, setting up parental controls and age appropriate games. Copies of the magazine can be ordered from their site as well as an online version which can be embedded into your school website.
3. Internet Matters
This is a website that offers advice on important e-safety issues, includes news and advice from industry experts, guidance on setting parental controls and filters and reviews on the latest technology and apps. It has a fantastic interactive tool for setting up controls around the house that is quick and easy to follow.
4. NSPCC
As well as coming into schools and providing talks for parents, the NSPCC has a wealth of information on their website. They have an excellent share aware guide as well as a recently published guide to Minecraft.
5. Digitally confident
This is another fantastic website with a huge range of articles for parents and carers, these are updated continually and provide relevant and up to date information.
