Marland Careers Programme

The Marland Careers curriculum features a programme of carefully planned activities, each with clearly defined learning outcomes designed to develop the skills needed for employment and lifelong learning. At Marland School, careers education, information, advice and guidance is comprehensive and well-balanced. It places strong emphasis on the personal development of every student, providing fully inclusive opportunities both within school and beyond to help them build the skills required to become “work ready” when they leave school.

Students learn through practical experience, and regardless of ability, all are given the opportunity to explore a variety of realistic career pathways through work experience opportunities, the school Pathways curriculum, Outdoor Learning and Vocational curriculum. These experiences are supported by school staff and external professionals across a range of workplace settings within the local community.

Learning is further enriched through participation in enterprise days, college visits, enrichment activities, access to the local community, and involvement in community-based projects. Each activity is designed to inspire, challenge and motivate students, while actively promoting equality of opportunity for all.
