Transition Information
A Levels
A Levels are academic qualifications usually studied at sixth form or college over two years. Students typically choose three subjects and are mainly assessed through exams. They are often taken by students who want to progress to university.
Vocational Studies
Vocational courses (such as BTECs) focus on practical skills linked to specific careers like business, health and social care, or engineering. They are usually assessed through coursework and practical assignments rather than just exams.
T Levels
T Levels are technical qualifications that combine classroom learning with a long industry placement. They are designed to prepare students for skilled jobs, apprenticeships, or further study in areas like digital, construction, and education.
Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships allow students to work for an employer while completing training and gaining a qualification. Apprentices earn a wage and spend most of their time working while also studying.
Supported Internships
Supported internships are designed for young people with special educational needs or disabilities. They provide workplace experience with support to help students develop skills and move into paid employment.
Training or Employment
Students can choose to work or enter job-based training programmes while continuing to develop skills and qualifications. This helps them gain experience and progress in a specific career area.
