Extended \ personalised Learning
Personalisation is a core principal at Marland School, we aim to identify and meet the needs of every individual student. The Extended Learning team are an integral part of the Curriculum at Marland and opportunities are sought for the students, where possible, leading to accreditation to support their learning across the curriculum.
Extended Learning opportunities are co-ordinated to contribute to Vocational BTEC qualifications, with all work experience contributing to work skills qualifications, the team has also supported students in academic subjects that we cannot deliver to the whole school via the standard curriculum e.g. Humanities GCSE’s. Our residential site boasts a large Horticultural area where many students gain experience to begin Land Based Studies BTEC qualifications, which are a large contributor to our qualification bank in school, this is an area of great success for our students Co-ordinated by an Outdoor Learning instructor and we are currently working in partnership with RHS Rosemoor, The Wholelife Project and both Duchy and Bicton Land based Colleges.
We work with other agencies/community groups/charities and colleges to look at opportunities that will support our students. We also commission an intervention worker that will work 1:1 with our students, supporting work experience placements, thrive based engagement programme and life skills.
The team also work individually with our year students, supporting independence skills and College transition programmes, to continue the success and achievement they experience at Marland.
